Briefing of the Chairman of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan Held

On February 14, a briefing was held by İsmət Səttarov, the Chairman of the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event was attended by representatives from over 30 television channels, radio stations, news agencies, and online news platforms.

During the briefing, the Chairman provided journalists with a report on the activities of the Audiovisual Council in 2024, highlighting the work carried out over the past year and the planned initiatives for 2025. İsmət Səttarov spoke about the implementation of the Presidential Decree on Allocating Financial Resources for Expanding the Radio Broadcasting Network in Azerbaijan, detailing the improvement of existing broadcasting stations' infrastructure, enhancement of their material-technical base, and measures taken to ensure stable operation.

Furthermore, he emphasized the application of international best practices in regulating television and radio broadcasting in the country, noting that steps have been taken in this direction and will continue to be expanded in the coming years.

İsmət Səttarov also discussed several key topics, including:

  • Handling citizen complaints and the legal actions taken by the Audiovisual Council based on monitoring and received complaints.
  • Financial challenges of Azerbaijani television channels and the state support provided to audiovisual broadcasters.
  • The competition jointly organized by the Media Development Agency and the Audiovisual Council for producing programs under state orders and its positive outcomes.
  • The genre distribution of nationwide television programs in 2024.
  • The broadcasting of public service announcements, national TV series, and animated films.
  • Legislative improvements aimed at expanding television access for people with disabilities.
